Groton Utilities Reservoir Hike

Please join us on Saturday, October 29th at 10:00 AM for a hike along the northern trail around Rosemond Lake, located on the Groton Utilities property. Parking and the start of the hike will be from the overlook area along Sandy Hollow Rd in Ledyard. For GPS directions enter 158 Sandy Hollow Rd Gales Ferry, CT into your GPS.  We hope to see you there!

Driving Directions

FROM GROTON
Take Exit 88 off Rte 95
Go North on Rte 117 (North Rd)
Go 3.6 mi and turn left on Sandy Hollow Rd
Go about 1.5 mi to a parking lot on your right

FROM THE NORTH
Exit 9, Rte 395
Follow exit ramp to Rte 2A (East), go 1.7 mi
Turn Rt on Rte 12 South, go 2.2 mi
At traffic light turn Left on Rte 214, go 1.8 mi
Rt on Whalehead Rd, go 0.4 mi
Left on Sandy Hollow Rd, go 0.7 mi to parking lot on your left

Sign Unveiling, Work Begins – Saturday, Sept 27th!

The celebration to signify the start of the Tri Town Trail was a resounding success! The first trail sign was unveiled at the Preston Community Park on Saturday, September 27, 2014. The sign marks the northern entry to the Tri Town Trail.

The beautiful day was a perfect backdrop as friends of the trail and local officials gathered for the unveiling.

Committee members were on hand with maps and other infomation about the trail.

Committee members Bea and Paul Reynolds manned the display during the event.

Our panel discussion on Monday Oct 7th, 2013 at the Groton Senior Center was an informative well attended event. An audience of approximately 50 listened intently as the panelists each gave a brief introduction and then as moderator Tom Reynolds asked panelists to respond to questions designed to tease out the major opprtunities and challenges inherent in developing trails on reservoir property. Questions form the audience were solicited during the introduction period and were answered as well. The entire discussion was videotaped by the generous Groton Municipal Television. Panelists included: Laurie Gianotti, Trails and Greenways Coordinator, CTDEEP; Eric Hammerling, Director, CT Forest &amp Park Association; Lori Mathieu, Director CT Dept of Public Health, Water Section; and Paul Yatcko, Director, Groton Utilities.

We are Requesting a Donation of an Item or Service that will Highlight your Business.

  • Donations will be collected by committee members.
  • Receipts will be issued to validate your charitable tax-deductible donation.

The committee has already prepared a Master Plan for the Trail

  • Grant applications are pending.
  • The Town of Ledyard has advanced word that it will receive a Connecticut Trails Grant for the Tri Town Trail.  Groton is awaiting word.
  • Matching Funds are needed to access the Grant Money.
  • Your tax-deductible donation will make you a part of this IMPORTANT PROJECT.
  • The Ledyard Rotary Foundation is the non-profit organization managing finances.  Tri Town Trail Association presently has a pending application for a non-profit corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Presently, contributions are Co-Sponsored through the Ledyard Rotary Foundation (a non-profit corporation). Contributions are income tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
