We hope this update finds you all well. The momentum of the summer has continued with the railings being added to the Spicer section access bridge. An extension to crossing #6 was constructed. Lastly the new aluminum bridge built to support fire crew access to the trail (shown above) was constructed at what we are calling the colonial crossing. With this access point now available the trail now has a second access point from the town of Ledyard’s Red Barn on 117. After entering the field make a right turn behind the barn, the bridge is an easy .3 mile walk down the outside of the field. This provides an almost midpoint access for the open section.

Upcoming event On October third from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM we will be hosting our official Grand Opening open to the public. This event will be family friendly and will be attended by town leaders from Preston, Ledyard, and Groton. A special guest Amby Burfoot is leading a fun run on the trail and there will be a kids fun run at Preston Park. Our Facebook page has the event posting that we are using to gage interest, so please respond as it will help us ensure we are prepared. Link to the event as follows. https://fb.me/e/4Gh7jN3Hx

This is the point the new access intersects the existing trail. A right will take you to the original first section. A left here will take you to the lollipop loop and the entrance to the Spicer hill section of the trail.
